Beyond Complements, The Third Chapter of Our Popular Complements Collection, Launched at the Quintessential British Estate Belmont House, Salisbury

When it came to photographing our new Beyond Complements collection of six new and original print designs, we sought a setting that embodied character and British heritage. Belmont House, a late Georgian, early Victorian residence just two miles from Salisbury, offered exactly that.

Perched in an elevated position, the home’s entrance opens into a wide hallway with original floorboards and elegant period details that speak to an era of craftsmanship. Tall sash windows flood the rooms with natural light, and each space is decorated differently yet remains sympathetic to its period. Our fabrics, upholstered on David Seyfried furniture and photographed by Olly Hunter, looked absolutely stunning.

The red patina-painted morning room set the tone with its warmth and texture. At its centre, the Thurloe Sofa upholstered in Swing – Masala took pride of place, flanked by two lampshades in Mallow Border – Cortez that added gentle symmetry. To one side, a Salvesen Graham Chair in Miss Polly – Carrot and Persimmon introduced a lively accent, while opposite, an Astell Chair in Olmo – Tamarind brought balance and depth. Completing the composition, the Arlington Stool in Elney – Chocolate grounded the space with elegance.

In the Blue Room, a cooler palette came to life. Delfyn Paisley – Tealadorned the Grosvenor Sofa, trimmed with Astrid Bullion Fringe – Slate Blueby Samuel & Sons. A matching Delfyn Paisley – Teal lampshade echoed the pattern beautifully, while on the opposite wall, Patoli – Picnic added jute stripe texture and subtle design to a high-backed sofa, creating a cohesive yet inviting space. The bathroom offered a more playful mood, with the Olmo Astell Chair positioned beside the tub and draped in flowing fabrics. Elsewhere, rooms such as the ballroom provided breadth and stillness, with high ceilings, simple textured walls, and picture-frame mouldings allowing the furniture and fabrics to shine.

Outside, the scene felt quietly magical. The sweeping willow branches, clipped hedges, and wild corners of the garden framed a world rich with imagination. Beneath the willow, a shepherd’s hut became the perfect stage for a moment of playful creativity. We dressed it in patchwork bedding crafted from our Beyond Complements fabrics and strung a washing line nearby, hung with garments lovingly sewn by our team on the in-house machines. From the same designs came an apron in Swing – Cerulean, matching hats, an Elney top, and even a pair of delightfully frilled knickers. House & Garden created a pair of trousers in Olmo – Tamarind, while we designed a coordinating jacket in Swing – Chalk Hill Blue with Olmo – Tamarind detailing.

We thoroughly enjoyed staging our Beyond Complements collection at Belmont House, and working with the quirks, charm, and scale the house and grounds had to offer.
