The name Chaloner draws on a historic textile tradition, chalon, a simple woven bed covering, and chaloner, a maker or seller of these cloths, emphasising our commitment to craftsmanship. Inspired by the Vyne House near our studio in Newbury, visited by Henry VIII, Jane Austen, and later home to Chaloner Chute. Its layered history and rich interiors have inspired a collection that reflects a legacy of resilience and evolving taste.
As with all our fabrics, Chaloner’s rich yet subtle and harmonious palette combining small and large scale designs, makes for effortless coordination both within the collection and our full range.
