Eclectic Elegance in the Heart of the Capital

In the refined heart of South Kensington, The Pelham Hotel is a study in contrasts. Think classic townhouse elegance infused with vibrant, modern character. Just steps from London’s most celebrated museums, this luxury boutique hotel offers guests a unique balance of sophistication and playful personality.

It is wonderful to see two of our fabrics, Poppinjay Velvet in Aztec and Inca in Ravenna, woven into The Pelham’s eclectic interiors.

In one of the beautifully individual rooms, Poppinjay Velvet takes centre stage on a striking headboard, an upholstered end-of-bed bench, and a charming sewing mannequin. First printed in the 1930s on rustic linen, Poppinjay’s iconic bird and tree-of-life motif has been reimagined here on short-pile velvet, where the design’s colours gain a rich depth and luminosity impossible to achieve on other grounds. The result is sumptuous, decadent, and irresistibly tactile.

The room’s personality is further enhanced with Inca in Ravenna, used to upholster a chair. This geometric weave brings together bold and subtle tones in a rhythm of horizontal stripes, creating a piece that feels both contemporary and timeless. Its graphic energy plays beautifully against Poppinjay’s flowing forms, resulting in a layered, highly individual space.

At The Pelham, every room tells its own story, and we’re delighted that our fabrics have become part of this space, bringing texture, colour, and a touch of Ian Sanderson heritage to London’s cosmopolitan heart.
